W ine World hosted a “Wines by Charles Smith, a Washington State Story” tasting seminar on Friday January 27th, 7pm.
They tasted ten wines with a break for heavy hors d’oeuvres. The seminar was being presented by Kristin Lowe of Republic National Distributing Company. Andrew Benjamin said in their newsletter that Charles Smith developed a passion for wine through international travel, and was a Rock and Roll promoter in Europe for many years. He ended up in Walla Walla Washington in 1999, and in 2001 and released 330 cases of his first wine, a ’99 Syrah. The self-taught winemaker then developed and later sold “The Magnificent Wine Company”, featuring labels such as: House White, House Red, Fish House, Steak House and others. After the sale he began the epinonimous “Charles Smith Wines” which are now produced by Constellation. Charles Smith now produces the highly acclaimed K Vinters wines as well as other labels.
