It’s not really the same when you can’t sample the wines but I was able to sip and watch from home.
Here’s the wine list from the evening and their notes:
Cattin Pinot Gris 2014 (France) Both nose and palate need waking up. It is only with intense swishing that some apple freshness emerges on the rather broad palate. A streak of tart apple acidity rescues this.
Hill & Dale Sauvignon Blanc 2015 (South Africa) Very light in color with hues of green showing, some herbs in flavor, good mouth feel, tropical fruit in taste, very slight acidity, sweetish finish. Nice easy tasting Sauvignon Blanc.
Hilanda Monastrelle 2012 (Spain) Baked plum and berry aromas come with notes of leather. This sun-baked red holds onto its acidity fairly well. Short berry flavors are pushy, while oak, vanilla, wood resin and leather accents drive a lively, juicy finish.
Donna Marzia Primitivo 2013 (Italy) Deep burgundy. Nice earthy aroma. High acidity. Berries and pepper. Fruity. Full body but not heavy. Rather smooth through the throat. Easy drinking. Pleasant aftertaste.
As usual they had quite the collection of nibbles and live music.
