T he Vineyard had some limited release wines this weekend. I’ve found that many limited releases turn into yearly releases if they sell well. The original Apothic Dark comes to mind. Now they have Apothic Inferno. I have a funny feeling this one will be popping up again provided they can keep a good supply of bourbon barrels on hand. I really like Apothic Inferno. I bought a bottle that I will be reviewing soon.
But today, I also found a nice little $8.99 red. The HandCraft Dark Red 2015. You often find this one in the $14.99 range. It is one of those dark jammy reds but not so jammy that you want to spread it on your toast.
The Apothic Inferno is more in the vein of what the Apothic series is really about. Nice in your face red wines. The bourbon barrel makes for some nice smooth flavors and aromas. Wine snobs will hate this wine.
I skipped the MYX lines. I wasn’t in the mood for Moscato. Roger has a huge standup of Nicki Manaj holding a bottle. There’s a reason she’s holding it. She’s co-owner of the brand. Not sure where they make it but it is Moscato so maybe its from Italy. Maybe not. They are kind of vague about it and I didn’t check the label.
As usual the nibbles were great.
