T he Vineyard celebrated the Fourth with a tasting Friday and Saturday, featuring several wines that salute veterans causes or server a patriotic theme.
The line up was great. I enjoyed all of them. I liked the Service Brewing Gun Bunny Whit , a great summer seasonal. I’ve never tasted a wine from Murphy-Goode I didn’t like. Their Homefront is a great red blend.
At the nibble’s table if you liked the Ghost Pepper Cheese, you can thank (or blame) me. That is one hot cheese available at Good Earth. It is hot. I mean really hot. The other cheeses, are much more friendly for a wine tasting. The Ghost Pepper cheese kinds of wrecks your palate.

Liberty School PInot Noir 2012 | Paso Robles, California
The 2012 Pinot Noir exhibits a bright floral nose with aromas of fresh cut strawberries. Fruit-forward flavors of cherry and strawberry strike a wonderful chord with the clean minerality and balanced notes of spice and crushed herb. With soft integrated tannins, this medium-bodied wine finishes with a beautiful, long and silky finish. –From their Website
Murphy Goode Homefront 2012 | Sonoma, California
I am super excited to continue making our amazing Homefront Red! Not only do we get to help out a lot of deserving service members and their families through our donations to Operation Homefront, but we also get to make a really fun wine in the process. This year’s Homefront Red is a soft red wine comprised of different varietals to create complexity and to show off the great fruit flavors that our grapes in California contribute. The nose kicks in with dark aromas of black cherries and blueberries while the first taste mixes things up with raspberries and Bing Cherries. The mouthfeel is rich yet soft and has a nice long finish that invites you to take a second sip. This is a great wine for parties and socializing, in addition to being a great food wine. Pair it with a pot roast or simply your favorite burger. It will stand up to the richest of meats. Simply put, this is a ‘Goode’ wine for a great cause.–From their Website
Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon |
The 2011 Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon has a deep ruby color. In the glass, the wine exudes aromas of plum, black currants, blackberry, smoke and earth. Soft tannins and bright acidity add a sense of balance and substance to this full-bodied Cabernet. Concentrated flavors of juicy raspberries and black cherries dominate the entry, while refined notes of earth and pepper emerge as the wine unfolds on the palate. Purple Heart Red 2013 | Napa Valley, California
The 2013 Purple Heart has aromas of mulberries, plums and blackberries with hints of black licorice.
