Friday tasting

G et ready for the holidays. Roger called this a “High-End Blowout.” Great wines for the season. This is a $15 tasting but you get a 20% off the list price if you buy one of the wines. The average cost of these wines is $32 so this is a great opportunity.
He had live music, great nibbles in addition to the great wines. I really liked the Barlow Napa Merlot.

Palacio De Canedo Godello | El Bierzo, Spain
It has a fresh fragrance with peach and white fruit aromas, citrus fruit background. Smooth and silky in mouth with a well balanced acidity. It is an expressive, delicate wine with glycerine.

Vinyes Domenech Del Bosc | Montsant, Spain
Grenache 60%, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The color is shiny cherry red with an intense purple rim. The nose highlights red ripe fruit aromas, and very deep balsamic notes of Mediterranean forest. The palate has rich red fruit giving a sweet tooth entry with ripe and elegant tannins, deeply balsamic with liquorice, resin and understory flavors. Finishes long and fresh. A fruit-driven wine, with the fullness of flavor and elegance which stands for Vinyes Domenech wines.
Cost: $19.99
Barlow Napa Cabernet Franc | Napa California
Our 2012 Cabernet Franc has a wonderful red cherry note with hints of cedar and French vanilla. The Plate is filled with dark current and luscious raspberry jam followed by lengthy elegant tannins.
Cost: $39.99
Barlow Napa Merlot | Napa California
The 2012 Barlow Merlot has a deep, concentrated violet-purple color with aromas of rich red cherry, raspberry and chocolate with an essence of sweet French vanilla. The palate is elegant and highly concentrated with rich and generous flavors of ripe cherries, fresh strawberry and currant. The tannins are soft and luxurious and are a great counterpart to the flavors of coffee and sweet oak.
Cost: $36.99
Kenefick Napa Picket Road Red Blend | California
Tamarind, plum, allspice and cedar notes encompass the aromatic profile. Bright cherry tart, tobacco leaf, and spicy tannins fill out the middle of the palate. The backbone is firm with integrated oak tannins that lengthen the finish. 100% Estate Grown, 43% Petit Verdot, 28% Cabernet Franc, 21% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon
Cost: $49.99
Hunt & Harvest Napa Cabernet Sauvignon |
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon is a rustic wine, with a deep, dark nose of blackberry, currants and cocoa. This is a broadly textured wine, showing off the natural structure and power of each varietal in the finished blend. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Petit Verdot
Enjoy with a sliced venison loin or hangar steak seared in cast iron and finished in the oven. Chop up some new potatoes; cover them with fresh rosemary and your favorite olive oil. Grab some black berries, sugar and a little vinegar, reduce and drizzle over the finished protein.
Cost: $29.99
