R oger had a Orin Swift Wine, La Galope & Terra Noble Tasting this weekend. I stopped by Friday afternoon and enjoyed all the wines.
I especially enjoyed the TerraNoble Gran Reserva Carmenere (I also enjoyed telling several tasters about the “lost grape.”
Three of the wines were from La Galope, a French wine producer. He said “La Galope is a special brand produced by the renowned Domaine de l’Herre’ winery, an historic property founded in 1974 with approximately 130 hectares of vineyards in the heart of Gascony, at the foot of the Pyrenees, in South-West France. The micro-climate of Gascony and the sand clayey soils make this a perfect terroir for Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are cultivated in a low-input process. To minimize the dangerous effects of remedial treatments, the vineyard is constantly monitored, preventive treatments respect the soil. The vine is tended in such a way as to ensure that the grapes offer up maximum flavors.”
Roger also featured a new release from the Orin Swift Winery called “Fragile.” This is a Rosé made from Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. He added “It is high in alcohol content; 15.3%! Hard to believe to see a level this high in a Rosé!”
He also said “We have proudly discovered these [Chilean] wines from TerraNoble, or noble land, blessed by pristine streams flowing from its high mountains and unique for its warm summers and cool breezes drifting from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes Mountains.”
The average cost of these wines were $15.50, not bad for a $8 tasting. The La Galope wines are $10.99. The Orin Swift and the TerraNoble wines are $19.99.
