Some of the tasters on Friday afternoon

F or $7 I think this tasting is well worth it (the average bottle price was $16.32). If Dennis knew they were tasting Turley Buck Cobb Zinfandel he’d be over in a heartbeat. These six wines where very nice. The oddest though was the Elicio Grenacha and Syrah. Why odd? These are typically red wine grapes. But together this is a blush wine. Several websites call it a Rosé. Not really sure. I guess you would call it a blush because it’s pink, not red. Kinda like White Zinfandel.
I met Dena, who was attending her first tasting at the Vineyard. She hadn’t finished all six but she told me “I really like the PInot Noir. I think it’s the best so far.” It warmed my heart being a cheap wine bastard. It’s a $7.99 wine.
The Trapiche Oak cask Malbec is unlike any Malbec I’ve ever had. Very dry, very oaky, but very dry. All and all a good little tasting.

Turley Buck Cobb Zinfandel 2014 | California
Planted at 1500 feet on the volcanic, granitic hillside near our new property in Amador, the Cobb Vineyard Zinfandel is an homage to Buck Cobb, owner of the vineyard and from whom we purchased the Karly property. The rocky conditions and more extreme weather (including snow!) in this dry-farmed vineyard make for a hearty, robust Zinfandel.–From their Website
