R oger says he found some gems that are keepers. Many of these are 80 plus points. Not bad for a $6 tasting. And of course there will be some great nibbles.

Cap Cette Picpoul de Pinet | Languedoc,France
Influenced by mild Mediterranean Sea breezes, this unique grape varietal “Picpoul” delivers rich flavors of pear and lime, leaving a refreshing and vibrant finish.
Additional and more frequent batonnages (steering of the lees) were perfromed in order to get more varietal’s extraction, richer mouthfeel and a boost of flavors. Website

A seductive and compelling red from Zamora – made from some of the oldest, pre-phylloxera, Tempranillo vines to be found in Spain. Aromas of bramble fruit and spice. The ripe and opulent palate has black, forest fruit characters, with smoky notes, cinnamon and spice. Smooth, balanced tannins and a full ripe finish. Website

Similar to the previous vintage, this wine exhibits dark fruit characteristics of fig, cola and sage. Even rounding tannins prevail with a lingering taste of open fields and hint of spice. 13.9% alcohol; Website
