Some new faces on Friday afternoon
Some new faces on Friday afternoon

F inally a tasting that befits me. $5 and the wines are all $7.99 or $8.99. I did take a few of the Bubo’s home. I thought the label looked familiar. Mrs. Dan had bought a bottle of it sometime last year and I was too lazy to review it.
I liked them all. My favorites were the Zin, which again is a 2014. It had some spicy notes. Nice body. A beefy wine. The HandCraft Cab was very nice. Some cherry notes. Nice full body. And the HandCraft Petite Sirah is one of the better $8.99 Petite Sirahs I’ve ever had.
So, I bought bottles of the Zin and the Cab. I will be reviewing them this time.
Once again John did a great job on the nibbles. The Bacon Cheddar cheese was killer.
While looking for wine descriptions on their websites I found “Bubo is the Latin word for ‘owl’ and the name of the goddess Athena’s magical owl. Throughout history owls have been regarded with fascination and associated with prosperity, good fortune, and a natural method of controlling pests. Owls that inhabit vineyards where grapes are grown are treasured because of their role as long-term stewards of the land.”
That explains the owls on the labels. I think those labels would make some cool posters.
