R oger said “if you’re a fan of the ripe, sweet, luxuriantly full-fruited Caymus style of Cabernet – but don’t want to pay the price, the Wagner Family has something new to offer you.
As Chuck Wagner explains, his new Bonanza Cabernet isn’t Caymus, but rather an expression of the sort of other superb California vineyards he never tires of exploring, the sort that are capable of ‘producing Cabernet Sauvignon that’s less expensive but a wine of its own riches.’”
He describes Lot #1 of his new Bonanza Cabernet as:
“Medium ruby red, this wine opens with scents of currants and dried roses, grape pomace and fresh tilled soil. The nose is nuanced with toasty oak imparting a subtle smoked meat character. Flavors of blueberries and blackberries mix with the warmth of vanilla and toasted bread. Silky tannins and striking smoothness. Mouth watering, lengthy finish trails off with the taste of unsweetened chocolate and cassis.”
And goes on to say…
“One thing is important to me – Bonanza calls back to a previous era when a glass of good wine with dinner was a simple pleasure. Bonanza aims to be a smart and gratifying choice, speaking to the enjoyment of everyday life. You may agree that our biggest fortune is good company, great food and delicious wine.”
