T he Veneto, in northeastern Italy, is among the best known, most popular and most beautiful Italian wine regions. It stretches from Lake Garda at its southern end to the foothills of the Alps and Austria in the north. Wine World is having a Veneto tasting seminar with Dan Suchko as the guide. Dan is South Caroline Area Manager for E & J Gallo
Andrew Benjamin said about the seminar “We’ll taste some classic whites and a rosé. We’ll taste an example of single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, representing the fairly recent use and acceptance of “international” grape varietals in the Veneto.
The heart of the seminar was in the Corvina-based red wines: a marvelous close comparison of five wines from three of the best producers, starting with traditional Valoplicells and progressing through the “raisined wines” leading to Ripasso and Amarone. There will be 10 wines total. Bread, cheese and nibbles will be served.
Attendees were offered special prices for ordering these wines.
