R oger is featuring wines from Trentadue this Weekend. These are new to the market (the Old Patch Red was featured at 706-Home recently). This winery makes exceptional wines. He will also be stopping in Italy for a little sparkler and Spain for an interesting grape you’ve probably never tried before. Then it’s off to Trentadue and finishing up with one of the California red blends that seem to be jumping up every few weeks.

Luccio Peach Moscato | Italy
Softly sweet and fruit forward, with flavors of fresh strawberries and raspberries. Nice acidity with a tickle of frizzante. Its makeup is 95% Moscato, 5% Malvasia Rosso.
Valdesil Godello Sobre Lías | Spain
An elegant expression of the Godello variety, this wine is aged on its lees and offers power, personality and long ageing potential in bottle.
It is produced with grapes harvested from a selection of vineyards stretching over the slate slopes of Vilamartín de Valdeorras, where favourable altitude and latitude enable a full ripening of this variety. A complex white revealing mineral and fine lees notes and pleasant citrus characters along with delicious unctuousness, nicely balanced by fresh acidity. 100% Godello. Original Pedrouzos clone. Trentadue Old Patch Red Lot 39 | Alexander Valley, California
Named for the original 1896 plantings on the Trentadue location, Old Patch Red been the all time favorite among Trentadue fans for over three decades. The 2013 Old Patch Red Lot 39 is predominately Zin blended with Petite Sirah, Carignane and Syrah, resulting in a very fruity yet complex Rhone-like wine. The wine has dark red color with intense black cherry aromas, blueberries and cherry cola as an immediate impression. With aeration nuances of ripe plums, vanilla, maple and cocoa are showing with a slight dose of oak and toast. On the mouth, the wine is fresh and juicy with youthful brightness, finishing long and fruity. This is a wine that will drink well with a variety of foods but it is also very enjoyable on it’s own. The 2013 Old Patch Red Lot 39 is delicious now but it will reward your patience with 2-3 years of aging. Website
Trentadue La Storia Red Zinfandel | Alexander Valley, California
The 2013 La Storia Zinfandel was made mostly from Block 303 Zinfandel and Block 400 and 402 Petite Sirah. The wine is bright and lively with concentrated “Zini” aromas; predominant dark cherry, blueberry and plum and some of the typical raisin. The fine oak barrel aging brings in subtle aromas of vanilla, brown sugar and slight toast and smokiness. The mouth feel is solid, with medium body and very soft, elegant tannins that accentuate the wine’s long and juicy finish with lively acidity.–From their Website
Trentadue La Storia Merlot | Alexander Valley, California
Our 2012 La Storia Merlot, Alexander Valley Estate, is a fine example of the ability of this classic Bordeaux variety to make a solid, tasty and age worthy wine. The main aromas and flavors are of dark cherry, plum, black licorice and herbs. The new oak contributes a touch of vanilla, brown sugar, cocoa dust and toast. On the mouth, the wine is almost heavy, with balanced tannins and acidity for such a young wine. This wine will age well and will reward your patience is stored well in the next 3-6 years.–From their Website
Ghostrider Ungrafted Red | Lodi California
Our Ghostrider red blend shows a dark ruby color with aromas of raspberries and ripe plum. Blackberry flavors and hints of spice show on the palate. This red blend, full of artful fruit, has an exotic mouth feel and a lingering finish with hints of toasted oak.–From the label
