Vinhas Altas VinhoVerde 2011
A refreshing delight especially for late summer, though it’s also a great year-round inexpensive pleasure. Lightly spritzy.  Citrus aromas & flavors with hints of melon and nectarine. The finish is lemony and crisp.  Aperitif.  Good food partner, especially for fresh seafood.  Shrimp salad, Green salads, Gazpacho,  Spicy Garlic Salmon.  Tangy cheeses.

Nieto Senetiner Torrontes Reserva 2010
Floral aroma with notes of white peaches, herbs, and grapefruit. Rich fruit flavors balanced with good acidity for refreshing finish. A Winebow selection. Excellent pairing for seafood, chicken, pork. (Some folks like to pair Torrontes with blue cheese.)  Roast pork loin in a cream sauce
with herbs, garlic & Parmesan.

Edna Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2011
A lively Sauvignon Blanc offers vibrant aromas and flavors of grapefruit, guava, and peach with  notes of cut-grass and pleasing crisp acidity. Full body, hints of minerality, long finish. Enjoy it with fresh seafood, broiled fish fillets. Cablanca, mild goat-milk gouda cheese. Grilled chicken
rubbed with thyme and tarragon.

Il Bastardo Sangiovese 2010
Dark ruby red color. Cherry, strawberry and  blackberry aromas and flavors. A fun “junior chianti” with appealing fruit. Medium bodied with pleasing tannins and fruit in the finish. Food-versatile. A great pasta wine with a rich meat sauce.

MontGras Carmenère Reserva 2010
Deep violet-purple color. Powerful aromas of dark fruit with herb and spice notes.  Rich fruit flavors suggest ripe blackberry and plum with earthy, herbal notes. Round texture, soft tannins lead to a fruit-filled, spicy finish.  Steaks & burgers. Venison. (Be adventurous: try it with Indian Curry dishes.) Braised short ribs. Rich cheeses. (This is a Cheap Wine Bastard Favorite).

J Lohr South Ridge Syrah 2010
Very appealing. Dense, dark color. Beautiful nose of blueberry, pomegranate, plum, and earthy black currants. Rich dark fruit flavors. with spice notes and a hint of chocolate. Supple with good structure. Lingering finish. Sautéed lamb chops, standing rib roast. Grilled eggplant & peppers.
Robust cheeses. Aged Gouda.
