I wasn't the only late one there.
I wasn’t the only late one there.

I was lucky to get there. It was a long day. I was glad they hadn’t shut down for the night. That’s what I like about Wine World, they’ll always have a glass left for you.
I wouldn’t mind sipping on any of the whites during the holidays. The Amanti Prodescco is a nice bubbly if you don’t like all those bubbles. (I know a lot of folks that won’t drink champagne because it’s too bubbly). This one would be a good crowd pleasure since it will please everyone… except those who look for a super super dry super bubbly.
The Haut Marin Gros Manseng was very appealing. The description said a touch of honey but I think it was more honeysuckle. The interesting thing about this wine is that it feels very light across the tongue but has a nice firm body as it swirls about. Light.. heavy… light… heavy. Can’t make up my mind but I like it for sure.
On the red time the Broadside Cabernet Sauvignon was a nice dry cab that isn’t over the top. The Poizin Zinfandel actually complimented it. Very similar in mouthfeel. I would not have guessed this to be a zin because lately have had so many old vine zins that are dense and fruit forward. Or many my palate was just messed up tonight.
The cheeses were great. El Greco Manchego from Spain, Grafton Village Cheddar from Vermont. But the Mimolette Vieille Sharp Cheddar from France was amazing. It says sharp but this is actually much more mellow and has a bit of a nutty flavor to it. They had the cannonball shaped cheese on the cutting block and it looked like a cantaloupe after being sliced. I like this cheese.
