There was a pretty good crowd Thursday night.
I t was like the proverbial elephant in the room. There were lots of nice wines being tasted but everyone was talking about Wine World closing in February. In a nutshell they are losing their lease. That doesn’t tell the whole story but in the end the result is the same. They will still be having tastings and seminars but the end is near.
As for the wines I really liked the Burgans Albarino on the white table and the Sartori Pinot Noir on the red table. Back at the cheese table they had the Barely Buzzed expression laced cheese, Beecher’s Flagship and Extra Aged Gouda (which I really like).
They were having fun at the cheese table

Next up for Wine World is a “Zonin” wine seminar Friday night. It will feature some great Italian wines. And First Friday tasting on Dec. 7th

Lightly tropical as well as herbal, this wine is crisp and bright. Its acidity and fresh kiwi and gooseberry flavors are balanced by a touch of pineapple and topped with intense, young acidity.
Domaine Vetriccie Corse Blanc 2017 | Corsica, France
Aromas of citrus fruits dazzle the senses. This wine is mineral and rich, yet lively as it hits the palate. It develops into a rich, smooth and unctuous mouthfeel. The finish is long and sustained with the perfect amount of acidity. Salads, Shellfish and Fish ‘ a la plancha’, and Goat’s Milk Cheeses.
Burgans Albarino 2017 | Rias Baixas, Spain
A bright greenish yellow color with golden highlights. A uniquely fruity aroma where the variety is clearly appreciated, highlighting hints of ripe apples, apricots, and peach aromas. It is rich, mellow and well-balanced. The aftertaste is fully rounded and off dry on the palate with juicy fruit flavors, clean acidity and a long, mineral-dominated finish. 91pts Decanter
Sartori Pinot Noir 2015 | Lombardy, Italy
Bright ruby with shades of violet. Alluring aromas of black-cherry jam, cloves, and chocolate with hints of spice and vanilla. Elegantly balanced with rich fruit flavors and good acidity.
