Oktoberfest in February

The Fall pretty much sucked for actually celebrating Oktoberfest with COVID-19 and all. I bought several to sample just didn’t get around to it. When Mrs. Dan had a hankering for some sauerkraut I thought this was an opportunity to whittle down the beer out in the garage. Guess we are having a Februfest. The Wild Heaven Fest Beer was my favorite but it isn’t the Märzen-style brew I’ve typically experienced. I have no true Oktoberfest experiences to compare it to but I’ve had several who have tell me which brews are similar to their German experience. The Wild Heaven is darker and maltier. It satisfies my dark/slightly sweet palate. It does have a slight touch of bittering hoppy toward the end on the first sip but that seems to go way after your taste buds get zapped with the first few sips. I could drink this all year round.…

Camille Braun Cremant d’Alsace Brut Rosé, France Cost: $21-23 I don’t know about you, but I long for the days when we can safely gather with friends, or enjoy a nice restaurant meal. I especially miss wine tasting dinners that combine great wine with perfectly paired food. I am hopeful that all will happen soon, but in the meantime we have to do the best we can to make home meals something special. Paying the Xmas Bills can be “Tricky”

Tricky (rabbit) Cabernet Franc Carmenèré Reserva 2015: Valle del Maule, Chile I ‘m drinking cheap leading up to Christmas because I had not planned on buying a new dishwasher. Our dishwasher broke back in August. We have one of those expensive home warranties (2-10) and well… it has been a few months of hell. Mrs. Dan wouldn’t marry me 20 years ago until I got the dishwasher at my old house fixed. 20 years later and it was basically get it fixed or sleep outside. I had faith in the warranty we had bought.
