 I liked the Cosentino The Zin so much I took a bottle home and we enjoyed it over dinner.
Wine World’s First Friday tasting had some nice little wines, The Zin being one of them. I think the Tormaresca Neprica is one of the nicest Italian wines I’ve had in quite some time.
I spoke with several tasters and they all liked the Pesquie Terrasses Blanc. This is a wine that will pair nicely with lots of different foods and each time taste very different. The Storypoint Chardonnay is a very nice “restaurant” wine according to Andrew Benjamin, pouring at the first table. This wine was developed to go nicely alone or with food, something that restaurant is looking for when new wine drinkers want to try a glass with their meal. I think it meets that goal.
At the cheese table I really liked all three: Sweet Grass Diary’s Green Hill (soft-ripened cow cheese); Kerrygold’s Dubliner; and Clawson Cotswold.
Next up for Wine World is their Wines of the Piemonte seminar on Friday, November 11 at 7PM. Better get a reservation to ensure your seat. They will be tasting 10 wines and of course there will be nibbles at the break.

Rotari Sparkling Rosé 2015 | Trento, Italy
Pale pink with light copper reflections. Red fruit complex with white fruit and pineapple, and very slight yeasty notes. Fragrant, with soft structure. Fish appetizers, Shrimp & Grits.
Pesquie Terrasses Blanc 2015 | Rhône, France
\70% Viognier 15% Roussanne 15% Clairette. White flowers and citrus aromas with lime notes. Freshness with citrus aromas, litchees and white fruits. Vegetables appetizers, grilled fishes, white meats and light cheeses.
Storypoint Chardonnay 2014 | Napa, California
Flavors and aromas of ripe apple, pear and white peach 0n a plush palate. Subtle hints of vanilla and toasted oak linger on the silky and refreshing finish. Chicken Dijon, Pumpkin Risotto.
Tormaresca Neprica 2013 | Puglia, Italy
Negroamaro, Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon. Notes of plums and cherries under spirits, roses, liquorice, and chocolate. Red fruit return on the lengthy finish. Salami Antipasto, Chickpea and pasta, Lamb Risotto.
Tournon Mathilda Shiraz 2012 | Victoria, Austria
Deep garnet in color, a core of black raspberries and blackberries plus hints of tar and licorice. Juicy red and black berry flavors with a slight earthiness. Ham, Bacon Warpped Pork Roast, Braised Beef Tips.
Cosentino The Zin 2014 | Lodi California
Bold notes of raspberry and clove follow flavors of cranberry on the palate. Firm tannins meld into a lovely, soft acidity making this wonderfully balanced. Roasted pork chops and apples, Jambalaya, Jalapeño Poppers.
