Nothing like an old fashion photo bomb

T ime for Wine World’s First Friday tasting. I can’t think of a better place to end the week. We stopped by around 6:30. There was quite a crowd and it kept getting bigger.
Right off the bat we really like the Howling Moon Chardonnay. This would be a good crowd pleaser during Holiday parties. Nice and smooth. The Velata Mer Seguera Sauvignon Blanc 2015 was a bit more sophisticated but a much lighter wine but not light on taste. A bit lemony but not lemony sour. The Banfi San Angelo Pinot Grigio was not what I was expecting after reading the tasting notes. It was crisp but not as fruity. More body that many of the Pinot Grigio’s/Gris I’ve had lately.
The red table the Peter Lehmann Portrait Cabernet Sauvignon tastes like an Australia cab. More to the cab grapes strengths without the extrusion that many California cabs go through. Not a lot of oak influence.
The Oscar Tobia Rioja Crianza Seleccion is a wine that definitely needs to open before serving. Mike was decanting the wine and I think it helped a lot. The decanting let the fruit have a chance to show. Dark black current flavors. Nice dry finish.
Our favorite of the night (we bought a bottle) was the last, Peirano Estate “Illusion” Red Blend. This is a wine I think would have placed in the recent CoCo Wine Festival. Nice chocolate flavors. I intend to enjoy this with the in-laws during the Holidays.
