E very year during the month of December The Vineyard presents “Wines for the Holidays!” I stopped by Saturday afternoon and sampled the Ports, Champagne, Hardy Reds & Delicious Whites that Roger selected that pairs well with holiday fare.
I have to admit the food spread was pretty good. The wines were nice especially the Peju and the Marietta Angeli Cuvee Red Blend 30. Of course those were the most expensive of the bunch.
More later…. but the Vineyard will be having tastings on Saturday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 2. They will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Whisker’s Blake Tawny Port | South Australia
Whiskers Blake was a longstanding employee of the Hardy family in the 1900s, he was responsible for scaring birds away from the grapes, ensuring that their quality was maintained. As thanks for his hard work he was regularly asked to ‘test’ the end product of his beloved grapes and his dedication to ensuring their quality led us to name our Tawny Port after him. Made primarily with Grenache and Shiraz grapes and aged on average for 8 years, our Whiskers Blake port blends several vintages to ensure its rich, smooth and nutty flavours.–From their Website Website
