Enjoying Wine and Beer in the Augusta GA area

Weekend Tasting-Vineyard-Dec. 1-2

"Old Man Crazy" Alan Thompson performing Friday

“Old Man Crazy” Alan Thompson performing Friday

fter cleaning the house and getting some work done I was ready for some great wines especially for a $10 tasting where the average price of the wines was over $19. And Old Man Crazy Alan Thompson was there to sing some tunes.

In a nutshell. Yes to the Terlato Pinot Grigio, Tremenalto Dama del Rovere Soave, Canoe Ridge HHH “The Expedition” Merlot, Can Blau Montsant and the Copper Cane Beran Red Zindandel. Hmmm. That’s all but one. Not to say the one I left out was bad but all the rest I could have bought easily for a special occasion considering I try and limit myself to $10. Also that one was $29.99.

In my tasting notes I wrote “this is my dream wine” for the Copper Cane Beran Zindandel. A hint of sweet fruit that I seldom find in Zins. Not to say I love sweet wines or that this is a sweet wine but the fruit is so nice and juicy. The Expedition Merlot has a nice spiciness to it. I would have never picked this one out as a Merlot in a blind tasting.

Great nibbles as usual. Really enjoyed the cheeses John picked out.
