Roger says “We are putting the pedal to the metal for this tasting.” He says that after every Master’s he has a few leftovers which The Vineyard always make available to taste. These are high end wines that you might not spend for just to taste. Here’s your chance. He says he’ll even be tasting some more great wines next weekend as well. All these wines, this week & next are highly rated, over 90 points. None will be under twenty dollars! Four (4) of this weeks wines are from the Wagner Family, the makers of Caymus. The average price on these is $32.50.

Mer Soleil Silver Unoaked Chardonnay 2015 | California
A pale yellow hue, the wine is well balanced with Fair in color and fresh from start to finish, the 2014 vintage opens up with aromas of flower blossoms, crisp pears and a hint of honeysuckle. Bright citrus evokes the clean taste of Meyer lemons, which grow amidst our estate vineyards, where a portion of this wine is sourced. On the palate, the wine is round and layered, with an acidity and depth that belie its unoaked character. The finish brings a lingering freshness that creates a perfect complement to salads, grilled seafood, tomato-based dishes and fresh oysters – and leaves a brightness in the mouth that leaves you wanting another sip. Tenshen White Blend 2015 | Santa Barbara County, California
Wine Spectator’s Top 100 #31 92 Points. Aromas of tangerine and ripe melon lead to flavors of peach and apricot. Balanced acidity and juicy honeysuckle accent the finish with a hint of hazelnut. Rhone Style White Blend: Viognier, Rousanne, Grenache Blanc & Chardonnay. Website
Mer Soleil Santa Lucia Highlands Reserve Chardonnay 2014 | California
Golden and sun-kissed, the 2014 vintage opens up with the fresh, tropical scents of pineapple and citrus blossom, balanced by the smooth character of vanilla. White peach comes through on the palate, which has a vibrant acidity balanced by the natural character of fully ripe fruit. Medium to full-bodied, this wine has a finish that is lengthy but never heavy, its mix of oak, butter and fruit characteristics blending seamlessly and leaving a harmonious, lingering impression. Belle Glos “Dairyman” Pinot Noir 2015 | Napa Valley, California
Bright crimson red in color. Aromas of black cherry and ripe plums combine with subtle notes of dried herbs and smoke. The palate entry shows flavors of cranberry, fresh raspberry, and ripe cherry, complemented by hints of vanilla and baking spice. A balance of savory, cedar and cocoa powder, and sweet, fig jam and ripe blackberry, round out the mouth-feel. The overall impression is one of ripe red and black berry fruit flavors, great structure, smooth tannins and a lingering fresh finish. Website
Tenshen Red Blend 2015 | Santa Barbara County, California
tenshən is a play on words that nods to winemakers Joey Tensley and Alex Guarachi’s winemaking acumen and the tension that occurs when harvesting. tenshən’s thought provoking Rhône blends are tenacious and alluring. The reds exhibit brooding dark fruit that is accented by Santa Barbara spice and completed by a mouthwatering finish. Website
Emmolo Merlot 2014 | Napa Valley, California
Grapes for this wine were sourced from Napa Valley’s Oak Knoll district, which includes two family vineyards. The area’s cooler weather, along with crop thinning and gravelly light soil, creates ideal conditions for producing a rich, distinctive Merlot. This wine is lush and supple on the palate, with expansive, dark berry flavors, a fresh earthiness and smooth, leathery tannins. A dark plum color, this wine opens with the lush scents of baking chocolate and fig, enhanced by notes of dried stone fruit, Christmas spice and wisps of Mesquite smoke. The palate is wonderfully rich and supple, driven by dark berry flavors. On the finish: a harmony of fresh earthiness and smoky notes rounded out with tannins that are leathery and smooth. Website
