Here are the detailed wine notes:
Steele Pinot Blanc 2013 | Santa Barbera, California
We ferment Pinot Blanc in neutral oak barrels, so there is great weight and mouthfeel but the wine is not over oaked. The wine is then aged for just under 4 months in oak, also neutral. The wine is bottled in the early spring. The most common descriptor we hear applied to this wine is simply “yummy”.
The fruit from this area tends to have tropical fruit aromas and flavors, as well as peach and melon characteristics and we also find the hallmark green apple character common in Pinot Blanc. The nose is aromatic with a soft and creamy mid-palate. Website
Goes with: Scallops sautéed in lemon butter with zest of citrus and lime are always a great pairing, but so versatile a wine, it can pair with just about any seafood.

Steele Cabernet Franc Rosé 2016 | Lake County, California
Jed Has made Rosé from many different varietals over the years, but he has found that Cabernet Franc truly is an outstanding grape to craft a quality Rosé. A forty-eight hour cold soak of the Stymie Bench VineyardCabernet Franc is how this rosé began. Beautiful pink juice is drained off by gravity and yeast is added to ferment in a separate stainless tank at a cool temperature of 50F. The result is a crisp, refreshing wine. Our Cabernet Franc rosé has strawberry, basil, and citrus zest on the nose, with flavors of watermelon, and tropical fruit; with a bright acidic finish. This is a seasonal and very limited release that sells out very quickly each vintage. Website
Goes with: Try with a variety of dishes such as Nicoise salad, asparagus and cheese tartines, chicken street tacos, or even bbq pork ribs.

Steele Cab Franc 2014 | Lake County, California
The typical winemaking style for our red wines is a warm fermentation followed by pressing and racking. The wine then goes to oak barrels and generally spends 14 months in a combination of American and French oak. Aromas are of raspberry and cassis with peppery undertones, on the palate you will find blueberry and raspberry fruit, with notes of coffee and cocoa; medium tannins and a lingering finish. Website
Goes with: Cabernet Franc is an ideal food pairing wine. Try this wine with a range of dishes from roasted pork, wild game hen, lamb gyros, grilled portabello mushrooms, or even quiche florentine.

Steele Durrell Chardonnay 2015 | Carneros, California
All of our single vineyard designated Chardonnays are 100% barrel fermented in French oak. We use 30% new barrels each vintage and the wines are in barrel for 10-12 months. The wines are then bottled without tight filtration. These may show a slight haze but this is merely a mark of gentle handling. These Chardonnays should age for ten years or more. Aromas citrus zest and ripe stone fruit are prominent. The flavors are lively and rich with tropical fruit and baked apple with a hint of caramelized sugar. Website
Goes with: Pair with grilled Halibut & tropical fruit salsa, chicken Dijon, or a creamy parmesan risotto

Steele Sangiacomo Pinot Noir 2013 | Carneros, California
We have worked with the Pinot Noir from Sangiacomo since our first vintage in 1991. Each year we choose the best lots and produce a single vineyard bottling in exceptional years. We age these lots for an additional 4-5 months and use a higher proportion of new French oak barrels. These barrels are heavily toasted during the bending of the staves. This toasting gives a smoky aromatic backdrop to the wonderful cherry fruit aromas and flavors.
This is a beautiful, and consistent expression of Pinot Noir: medium color and the pronounced aroma of Bing cherries, combined with a smooth structure and perfect balance. Of the many Pinot Noir’s we make this is the lightest and brightest with an unmatched elegance, and lingering finish. Website
Goes with: Grilled salmon is a great pairing for this wine, but as always pairing this wine with good friends is a great idea.

Steele Bien Nacido Pinot Noir 2013 | Santa Barbara County, California
With Pinot Noir we take a minimal approach to winemaking. Fermentations are carried out with as little manipulation as possible. We use a gentle crusher, one short pump-over per day and cool soak the grapes prior to the onset of fermentation. The wine is always elegant, perfumed and alluring. The wine from Bien Nacido N blockis deeper, richer with more color and body than from other vineyards. Our aging program is always in French Oak barrels which are heavily toasted during the bending of the staves. This toasting gives a smoky aromatic backdrop to the wonderful strawberryfruit aromas and flavors. We usually bottle the wine in December of the following year, so at a minimum the wine spends 12 months in French Oak.
This vineyard, given its coastal influence, produces a wine with freshly picked strawberry, bing cherries, cloves, and spice, aromas and flavors. But still has a balance of acidity and a finish that lingers of sweet tobacco and spices. Website
Goes with: The rich fruit of this wine will compliment fillet steaks grilled over grape cuttings, or a seared Ahi tuna steak.

Steele Merlot 2012 | Lake County, California
Our typical winemaking style for red wines is a warm fermentation followed by pressing and racking. The wine is aged oak barrels and spends 12 months in a combination of American and French oak. While most producers of merlot tend toward the soft and supple wine style, we have opted, because of the quality of the grapes, to make a wine in a rich, generous style. Full bodied with plum, and boysenberry fruit, a slight note of licorice with rich mocha tannins and a lingering spicy finish. Website
Goes with: Grilled lamb chops, Bolognese, or even a big juicy burger would pair wonderfully with this Merlot.

Steele Catfish Zinfandel 2013 | Lake County, California
The vineyard is located on the Bell Hill bench of Lake County just south of Kelseyville. Catfish Vineyard, planted in 1901, is head pruned and stands on its own roots. Steele Wines purchased the vineyard in 2000 and we have been working to rehabilitate the old vines since that time.Catfish Vineyard Zinfandel, is actually a field blend of a number of varieties, including small amounts of carignan, alicante bouschet, cabernet sauvignon, petite sirah, and cinsault. Having more than one variety assured the old-time vintners that they would have some grapes to harvest regardless of the spring frosts or autumn storms.
The small, concentrated berries from this century-old vineyard offer juicy, wild berry flavors while maintaining balance. Website

Steele Shooting Star Black Bubbles | Lake County, California
From an idea born in the Land Down Under we proudly unveil our newest creation, Black Bubbles. Always on the lookout for something different, Jed Steele’s son Quincy discovered sparkling Shiraz, an Aussie tradition, while working at the D’Arenburg Winery. Bringing home the idea of a Northern California version inspired Jed to formulate a unique Syrah blend from some of our finest contracted vineyards in Lake County.
The final Syrah blend was finished here at Steele Wines, using a mix of French and American oak barrels. We then sent it off to a sparkling wine producer to be infused with bubbles. It came back as effervescent, crisp and lively Black Bubbles. Website

Steele Stymie Syrah 2012 | Lake County, California
We use our typical Syrah winemaking techniques on the Stymie, including gentle crushing and fermentation temperature below 90 degrees F. We aged this wine in American and French oak barrels for 22 months.
Steele Stymie Syrah shows a rich, dark red color with firm body, with excellent New World fruit aromas and flavors of berry, cherry, bacon and a touch of nutmeg and cinnamon. The rich, full-bodied palate has subtle fruit with medium tannins and well-integrated oak. The finish is long with a hint of leather in the back palate. There’s enough fruit to enjoy through the warmer months with grilled lamb or steak, yet enough body and structure to pair well with winter cassoulet, stews, game, and braised shanks. An excellent Syrah that you won’t want to miss. Website
