Enjoying Wine and Beer in the Augusta GA area

Prophecy Weekend Tasting-Vineyard-Aug. 25-26

The Lineup

Stopped by the Vineyard Friday afternoon where they were showcasing Prophecy Wines this weekend in addition to two non-Prophecy wines from Portugal and California.

Prophecy Wines are from around the world. The Pinot Grigio is from Italy, the Sauvignon Blanc from Australia, the Pinot Noir from California and the Red Blend from California and Washington State.

The first wine was the Wyou Vino Verde. The Wyou is short for Wine For you. First sip of this wine reminded me of a dry ginger ale… the flavor is crisp and not sweet like ginger ale but nice ginger flavors. Second sip is more traditional “green wine” flavors you expect from a Vino Verde.
The Phophecy Sauvignon Blanc was more earthy than grassy. Nice texture. The Pinot Grigio was very typical light and crisp Italian Pinot Grigio.
The Prophecy Pinot Noir was definitely a California Pinot. Medium body, lots of fruit up front. Heavy tannins seem to take control on the finish.

I was surprised at the Red Blend. It seemed more acidic that most red blends but has some nice dark fruit flavors. Had some chewy tannins.
The ender was the Firestone Cab. Dark, dense colors. Nice dark cherry flavors and some spices. This one is from the Santa Ynez Valley.

As usual the nibbles were great especially the Sartori Merlot BellaVitano cheese.

Next up for the Vineyard is there weekend tasting Sept. 1 and 2.
